Chandigarh, October 16, 2026: Congress leader Sachin Pilot met Punjab Congress president Pargat Singh in Chandigarh ahead of his five-day tour of Punjab, during which he is scheduled to visit 11 districts and meet families of victims of gang violence.
The meeting focused on key political issues concerning Punjab and the Congress party’s upcoming programmes and visits, according to a post shared by Punjab Congress on social media.
Pilot’s scheduled tour from October 16 to 20 will cover Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Amritsar. During the visit, he is expected to meet bereaved families, offer condolences and hear their concerns about the crimes and the action taken by the police and state government.
The tour comes amid the Congress party’s criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party government over Punjab’s law and order situation. Congress leaders have raised concerns over murders, gang violence and alleged extortion, accusing the state government of failing to ensure public safety.
Pilot has also criticised the government over criminal incidents in the state. The Congress has said its outreach will focus on meeting affected families, understanding their concerns and examining the progress of investigations into cases of gang violence.
The visit is expected to form part of the party’s efforts to highlight law and order issues in Punjab and seek accountability in cases where families continue to demand justice.
