Mansa (Punjab), October 18, 2026: Lawyers for Human Rights International (LFHRI), a human rights organisation, has urged the parents of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala to keep their younger son, Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Chhota Sidhu, away from violent behaviour and refrain from involving him in performances that imitate such actions.
The organisation has filed a complaint with the District Magistrate and the District Child Protection Unit in Mansa, seeking intervention over the alleged imitation of violent gestures by the two-and-a-half-year-old child during a recent stage appearance in Toronto, Canada.
According to the complaint, the toddler was allegedly seen making gestures resembling firing a firearm, imitating actions associated with his elder brother, who was shot dead in 2022.LFHRI has maintained that exposing a child of such a young age to gestures associated with violence is not in his best interests. It has urged authorities to ensure that the child’s age and emotional well-being are protected.
The organisation has also called for counselling for the child’s parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur. It has further sought consideration of action under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, if the parents fail to change their conduct.
Advocate Navkiran Singh, general secretary of LFHRI, filed the complaint on behalf of the organisation. He is facing trolling on social media over the move.
The complaint raises concerns about the exposure of a very young child to gestures associated with gun violence and calls for intervention in the interest of his welfare. The allegations and the organisation’s demands have not, in themselves, established any wrongdoing by the parents.
