In the heart of Punjab's rural landscape, a revolutionary wave in healthcare is being led by Dr. Jobanpreet Singh Sra, an orthopaedic surgeon whose dedication is reshaping lives in the region. Dr. Sra joined the Government Hospital in Ghudda approximately 10 months ago and has since become a cornerstone of medical excellence and compassion.
Every day, Dr. Sra examines between 100 to 120 patients, addressing a wide spectrum of bone and joint-related ailments. His commitment extends beyond consultations; on Tuesdays and Thursdays, he performs around 10 to 12 surgeries. The hospital under his expertise handles critical cases including accidents, bone fractures, and complex knee or hip replacement surgeries.
One of the most significant aspects of Dr. Sra’s work is that the care provided at the Government Hospital in Ghudda is completely free of charge, thanks to government healthcare schemes.
This facility has become a beacon of hope for residents of Ghudda and its neighbouring regions, providing high-quality healthcare services free of charge under government schemes that cover up to Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The reach of the hospital's reputation has extended far beyond local boundaries, drawing approximately 150 to 160 patients from distant areas such as Fazilka, Abohar, Moga, Sirsa, and the Hanumangarh district, who have successfully undergone surgeries here.
Dr. Jobanpreet Sra's journey is deeply rooted in the soil of Pathrala, a village in the region. Emerging from a rural background himself, he carries with him an intrinsic understanding of the sentiments and concerns of his patients. His educational journey began at St. Joseph’s School in Mandi Dabwali and continued through the hallowed halls of Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, where he earned his MBBS and MS degrees.
The son of government teachers, Dr. Sra was inspired by his father to serve in the public sector. This inspiration is evident in his approach to patient care. After the official OPD hours, Dr. Sra dedicates his time to personally attend to the physiotherapy and dressing needs of admitted patients. His commitment does not end with patient discharge; he remains accessible 24/7 through phone or WhatsApp, ensuring continuous support for those who need it.
Dr. Jobanpreet Singh Sra's work is not just about medical treatment; it is about restoring hope and dignity to those who might otherwise be overlooked. His efforts exemplify a model of healthcare that is both compassionate and accessible, setting a standard for others to follow in the pursuit of equitable healthcare for all.
