Chandigarh, October 20, 2026: Bestselling author Priya Hajela will launch her latest novel, For Whose Dear Sake Our Fathers Died, published by Speaking Tiger, at the Institute for Development and Communication (IDC) campus in Chandigarh on Wednesday, October 21.
Organised by Thinkers Collective, an initiative of IDC, the event will begin at 4 pm. Hajela will be in conversation with Dr Kaveri Bedi of IDC, followed by a book-signing session.
The novel traces the story of a Sikh family across nearly a century of history, exploring the impact of war, empire, resistance and political upheaval on successive generations.
Spanning events from the Anglo-Sikh Wars and the uprising of 1857 to the Komagata Maru incident, India’s freedom movement and Partition, the book brings together family history and the wider historical forces that shaped the Sikh community and the subcontinent.
Hajela’s previous novel, Ladies Tailor, published by HarperCollins India, received critical acclaim.
The upcoming launch is expected to bring together readers and literature enthusiasts for a discussion on the author’s latest work and its historical themes.
