Breaking: Haryana Ayushman doctors allege Rs 1,550 crore dues, threaten anti-BJP campaign in Punjab

Panchkula (Haryana), October 26, 2026: The Haryana Ayushman Doctor Association has accused the state government of withholding ₹1,550 crore in payments to hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme for the past seven months and threatened to campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab during the upcoming elections.
In a statement signed by association president Dr Narayan Galani, executive president Dr Parag Upakare and secretary Dr Ravindra Sonawane, the association criticised Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini over the alleged delay in payments and questioned his claims about the successful implementation of the health scheme.
The association said the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with hospitals during empanelment stipulates that hospitals should credit payments to doctors’ accounts within 15 days of a patient’s discharge.
However, it alleged that hospitals in Haryana had been awaiting payments for seven months, with total outstanding dues reaching ₹1,550 crore.
The doctors said they had held five to six meetings with senior authorities to resolve the issue, but these had failed to produce any concrete results.
The association further alleged that hospital managements faced threats of de-empanelment when they issued notices for strikes over pending payments.
Criticising Saini’s statements during rallies and media interactions in Punjab, the association claimed that his portrayal of the Ayushman scheme in Haryana as 100% successful did not reflect the difficulties faced by empanelled hospitals.
The statement also raised concerns over crime, drug abuse, unemployment, education, farmers’ issues and alleged corruption in Haryana. It accused the state government of failing to address these concerns and questioned its control over senior administrative officers.
Announcing its proposed political response, the association said its members would visit Punjab during the upcoming elections to campaign against Saini and the BJP.
