Ferozepur MC collects 700 Kg recyclables for RRR Centre under 30-day campaign
Ferozepur, October 26, 2026: The Municipal Council, Ferozepur, has intensified its special Garbage-Free Festival 2026 campaign to ensure cleaner streets and reduce waste generation during the festive season. As part of the initiative, a movable Material Recovery Van will collect recyclable materials from residents’ doorsteps.
Executive Officer Narendra Kumar said the 30-day campaign, launched on October 23, aims to maintain cleanliness across the city, reduce festive waste and ensure proper disposal of household and commercial waste in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules.
He said the campaign had received an encouraging response from residents, with social, religious and political organisations also coming forward to support the initiative.
Municipal Council Superintendent Sukhpal Singh said that on the fourth day of the campaign, steel utensils were used instead of single-use plastic at community kitchens organised at various locations to mark the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Valmiki. The waste generated at these sites was also collected and cleared.
He added that the council’s special Material Recovery Van collected around 700 kg of recyclable material from residential areas and transported it to the RRR (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Centre. The collected items included reusable clothes, shoes, toys, books and waste paper, which will be distributed free of cost to needy people wherever suitable for reuse.
The Municipal Council appealed to shopkeepers to avoid plastic polythene bags and single-use plastic during the festive season. Residents were also urged not to mix recyclable materials generated during Diwali cleaning with regular household waste.
