Chandigarh, October 30, 2026: Congress leader Pargat Singh has made a serious allegation, claiming that around 10,000 Punjab Police personnel are addicted to drugs. He further alleged that drug trafficking cannot operate without the alleged connivance of the police.
Pargat Singh made these remarks during his visit to Bhamme Kalan village in Mansa district on Thursday, where he and other Congress leaders met the family of Daljit Singh, a young man who allegedly died of a drug overdose.
The leaders visited the village to express their condolences to the bereaved family and participate in the ongoing protests over the youth’s death.
The incident has sparked concern and anger among local residents, with protests continuing over the issue of drug abuse and its devastating impact on young people.
Pargat Singh’s allegations have once again brought the issue of drug trafficking in Punjab and the alleged involvement of law enforcement personnel into focus. However, his claim regarding 10,000 police personnel being addicted to drugs remains an allegation and would require independent verification.
