Sangrur (Punjab), November 4, 2026: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of acting as the “B team of the BJP”, alleging that the party contests elections in states where Congress is in the fray to undermine its prospects.
Addressing the Congress’s ‘Nyay Rally’ in Sangrur, Kharge claimed that AAP had spoiled Congress’s electoral prospects in Gujarat and Goa.
“Wherever Congress goes to contest elections, AAP shows up there to spoil the equation. We were winning in Gujarat, but AAP ruined the game there. We were winning in Goa, and it messed things up there too,” he said.
Kharge alleged that AAP had no independent political base and was working to weaken democracy. He called on people to “teach such people a lesson first”.
Targeting the BJP-led Union government over farmers’ issues, Kharge said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to provide a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) and double farmers’ income, but had failed to fulfil those promises.
“In 12 years, Narendra Modi has ruined the farmers,” Kharge said, referring to the three farm laws introduced by the Centre and later repealed following a prolonged farmers’ agitation.
He said farmers had fought for their rights and forced the government to withdraw the laws. Kharge also accused AAP of aligning with the BJP’s agenda, alleging that both parties were working to harm the country.
