- Amritsar, November 6, 2015: Damdami Taksal Chief and President of Gurmat Sidhant Pracharak Sant Samaj, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa ( Baba Dhumma ) today openly ooposed the Sarbatt Khalsa called by some political parties and Sikh organisations on November 10 at Amaritsar .Terming the Sarbat Khalsa as Historic Organisation of Sikhs as well as key component of Sikh Traditions baba Dhumma said that keeping Sarbat Khalsa away from any controversies was the need of the hour. He also gave a call to Panth to maintain supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Addressing media persons here Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa said that we were in favour of Sarbat Khalsa but the center of holding Sarbat Khalsa (congregation of Sikhs) should be Sri Akal Takht Sahib besides chalking out its agenda and building consensus of Panth over that and the approval of Panth on this should also be mandatory. He said that Damdami Taksal has an optimistic view to participate in the proposed congregation under the name of Sarbat Khalsa slated for November 10 if the venue is Sri Akal Takht Sahib, ensuring participation of all panthic organizations besides participation of representatives of all Sikh organistions and Sikh Sangat across the world after concurring harmony on its agendum/agenda. Throwing light on the tradition of Sarbat Khalsa, Sant Harnam Singh Khalsa said that Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, founder of Miri-Piri, has created Sri Akal Takht Sahib and from this place the key decisions have been taken. He said that after Guru era the Sikh Panth centralized Sarbat Khalsa at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. During Sikh misl period despite major controversies in Sikh affairs, Sarbat Khalsa has been held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib reflecting unity in the panth. He said that SGPC was formed after holding Sarbat Khalsa in 1920 and significant decisions were taken with a view to free Gurdwaras from the control of Mahants. Sant Harnam Singh Khalsa said that Damdami Taksal organized a massive panthic congregation on 29 November 1985 at its Headquarter Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash Mehta after the operation Blue Star to make aware the Panth, which witnessed huge participation of Panthic Organisations, families of martyrs besides Sikh sangat. He said during that gathering two major decisions were taken. The first decision was to build structure of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by Sikhs at their own by rejecting the repair was being done by Government and deciding to hold Sarbat Khalsa on 26 January 1986, where landmark decisions had also been taken in interests of Panth. Sant Harnam Singh Khalsa said that at present there were various controversies in the Panth and the proposed congregation under the name of Sarbat Khalsa will further deepen the issues. He said that the proposed gathering will undermine the tradition of calling Sarbat Khalsa and in future some groups will use the tag of Sarbat Khalsa by holding gatherings as per their own necessities. He urged the organizers of proposed Sarbat Khalsa scheduled for November 10 to think the importance of Sarbat Khalsa seriously. Sant Harnam Singh Khalsa said that anti-Panth elements were hatching conspiracies to harm Sri Akal Takht Sahib, highest temporal seat of Sikhs and Constitutional Organisation of Sikhs SGPC but at the same time he said that the direction of Panj Piaras for the resignations of Takhat jathedars was justified. Sant Harnam Singh Khalsa said Khalsa Panth can also give a call for Sarbat Khalsa if the Panth in crisis or in case of losing credibility by Jathedar but the venue should be Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He appealed the Panth to be cautious from conspiracies being hatched by anti-Sikh forces to eliminate the existence of Panthic organizations.
  Baba Dhumma was accompanied by Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode,Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhiasi, Sukhbvinder Singh Agwan and Darshan Singh Mand and other leaders of Sant Samaj.
  However, Shriomani Akali Dal Amritsar president Simranjit Singh Mann along with other likeminded Sikh hardliner outfits have declared that during the Sarbat Khalsa the the jathedars of three Takhts â€” Gurbachan Singh (Akal Takht), Mal Singh (Kesgarh Sahib) and Gurmukh Singh (Damdama Sahib) would be removed. Sikh hardliners to hold the congregation in Amritsar, for which land has been taken on rent on the Amritsar-Tarn Taran road at Gurdwara Baba Naudh Singh when they were refused by the SGPC to hold Sarbat Khalsa in the Golden Temple. The factions which have came out against the grant of pardon to Dera Sacha Sauda Sect chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh are Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Amritsar, headed by Simranjit Singh Mann; SAD (united) led by Mokham Singh; SAD (Pardhani), SAD (Delhi), Dal Khalsa, Damdami Taksal (Ajnala), Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Sant Samaj, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Committee and the All India Sikh Students Federation. It may be mentioned here that Sarbat Khalsa being called to register protest against the edict issued from Akal Takht for granting pardon to Dera Sacha Sauda Sect chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh and later decision was taken back when Sikh community mounted pressure on Jatehdar Akal Takht. Sect chief was accused for alleged blasphemous act of 2007 when he alleged disguised himself at tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh which hurt the sentiments of Sikh community by and large.
