There is a most disturbing war hysteria raging on the Indian media post Puri correction Uri outrage. Wars are not won or lost on jingoism. Cold stastics suggest that despite India's numerical conventional military superiority, an Indo-Pak war can only end in a stalemate, with minor advantages to one or other side. But the wages of war would be horrific on both sides.India must realise it is a superior and more responsible economic power and its stakes in peace are far greater than those of Pak.Even a short twenty day war would put both countries back by nearly two decades in terms of development . While Pakistan would still be what it is after two decades of peace, India could will and truly use those two decades of peace to emerge as a world leader. Our growth rate would plummet into a negative factor while Pakistan's is already nothing to smile about.
Please, media and everyone, put a stop to this fatal obsession with war.
War would be fatal to both India and Pakistan but since India is at present the more living nation, its death as a potential world power will be more tragic. It is in India's interest to avert a war, not to be provoked into it. Have we lost all confidence in our diplomatic force?
