Chandigarh, September 1, 2024: Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre organized its second annual cultural fest, 'ANUGOONJ 2024', last night, celebrating a vibrant blend of tradition, creativity, and community spirit.
The event, which drew participants and spectators from across the departments of the hospital, was a resounding success, highlighting the HBCH&RC's commitment to holistic patient care and community engagement.
The evening was marked by a series of captivating performances that showcased the diverse talents of the hospital staff. From classical dance recitals to soulful music performances, ANUGOONJ 2024 was a platform for artistic expression and cultural celebration.
Dr. Ashish Gulia, Director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of cultural activities in promoting emotional well-being, especially in a healthcare setting.
Aashika Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Mohali, served as the chief guest, while Dr. A.K. Atri, Director-Principal of Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh, was the guest of honor at the event.
"ANUGOONJ is more than just a cultural fest, it is the echo of small efforts that resonate deeply. While it begins today, its impact will continue to grow and endure in the future," said Dr. Ashih Gulia.
"I am here to serve those in need. Whenever I see the increasing numbers of patients, I feel concerned because it places a burden on society. However, if this is the reality we face, then it becomes our duty to address it with utmost care. We must take every small step with the patient in mind, ensuring that our actions are always centered around their well-being. It is because of our patients that we are here.
They are the reason we receive our salaries, provide for our families, and find happiness in our lives.Therefore, we must show respect to every person who walks through the doors of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre", he reiterated.
Dr. Gulia acknowledged the contributions of the Mohali Administration and the Punjab Government, expressing gratitude to the Tata Memorial Centre and the Department of Atomic Energy for their continued support.
The guest of honor and Director-Principal of Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh, Dr. A.K. Atri, remarked that the region was in dire need of a dedicated cancer hospital, and Homi Bhabha Hospital took on that responsibility.
Previously, patients had to travel to Mumbai for cancer treatment, but now the situation has changed. In the near future, the hospital is set to become an exclusive cancer care center.
The chief guest and Deputy Commissioner of Mohali, Aashika Jain, expressed her belief that events like ANUGOONJ 2024 creates lasting memories and foster a sense of unity and teamwork, which significantly enhances our efficiency at work.
