Ferozepur hosts One-Day Table Tennis Championship with over 200 players participation
Ferozepur, December 2, 2024: To promote youth engagement in sports, the Ferozepur District Table Tennis Association organized a one-day Table Tennis Championship at the Rai Bahadur Vishnu Bhagwan Auditorium of Das and Brown World School. The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 200 players across the district.
The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting and featured matches in various categories, including Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 for both boys and girls.
Association Secretary Anu Sharma highlighted that the event, chaired by Association President Dr. Anirudh Gupta, also served as a selection platform for the state-level championship to be held in Jalandhar from December 5 to 9. She added that players are receiving advanced training under the association's expert coaches.
Spokesperson Vikramaditya Sharma stated that trophies and certificates for participants and winners were sponsored by Rahul Kakkar, Head of Immigration and association member, who was also honoured during the event.
Ranjan Sharma emphasized the association's commitment to nurturing table tennis talent capable of representing the border district on the global stage.
In Boys' Categories- the winners were - Under-11: Angadveer Singh, Sumanyu, Rubab, Under-13: Harshit Bindra, Angadveer Singh, Heera, Khushman, Under-15: Abhinav Bindra, Harshit Bindra, Aaron Chopra, Manmeet Singh, Under-17: Abhinav Bindra, Aaron Chopra, Manmeet, Harshit, Under-19: Abhinav Bindra, Aaron, Harshit, Gursharan, and Men's: Abhinav Bindra (1st), Sunil Sikri (2nd, 3rd).
In Girls' Categories – the winners were - Under-13: Ravya, Rujal, Khushpreet, Disha, Under-15: Bhumi Sharma, Litika, Bhavya, Smridhi, Under-17: Bhumi Sharma, Hargun, Litika, Under-19: Litika, Bhumi Sharma, Hargun, Askirat, and Women’s: Yashi Sharma, Dhriti Sharma.
The event concluded with an enthusiastic celebration of sportsmanship and a promise to keep inspiring young athletes in the region.
