MLA Bhullar felicitates 102-year-old Champion Jagtar Singh among 22-medal triumph in NMG at Dharamshala
Ferozepur, April 26, 2025: Athletes from Ferozepur district made the region proud at the National Masters Games (NMG)2025, held in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh from April 21 to 23, where around 2,000 veteran athletes from across the country participated. Competitors ranged in age from 30 to over 100 years.
To honour these achievers, Ferozepur City MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar invited the athletes to his office, where he felicitated them and announced a cash reward of ₹21,000 for the District Masters Athletics Association.
Among the standout participants was 102-year-old Jagtar Singh Dhanoa from Ferozepur, one of India's oldest athletes, who secured three gold medals.
A 14-member team, led by Dr. Gurinderjeet Singh Dhillon, President of the District Masters Athletics Association, and General Secretary Ishwar Sharma, represented Ferozepur in the competition. Their achievements included - Jagtar Singh (102 years): 3 Gold Medals, Satpal Sharma (80+ years): 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze Medal, Darshan Singh Gill (75+ years): 2 Silver, 1 Bronze Medal, Dr. Gurinderjeet Singh Dhillon (70+ years): 2 Gold, 1 Silver Medal, Dr. Surjit Singh Sidhu (65+ years): 2 Bronze Medals, Har Varinder Singh and Dalip Singh (60+ years): 2 Silver Medals each, Rakesh Kumar (55+ years): 1 Bronze Medal, Ishwar Sharma (50+ years): 2 Silver Medals (Shot Put and Javelin Throw), Harjeet Singh (45+ years): 1 Bronze Medal (Shot Put), Pargat Singh (40+ years): 1 Gold Medal with a new national record (Hammer Throw), Simranjeet Kamboj (35+ years): Competed in Javelin Throw with a strong performance and Kamlesh Rani (65+ years, Women’s category): 1 Bronze Medal (100-meter race).
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Bhullar praised the veteran athletes, calling them the pride of Ferozepur and Punjab. He assured that the government would continue to support and honor such athletes. He also announced that soon, state-level veteran athletic competitions would be organized on the newly constructed synthetic track in Ferozepur.
