10th Distt Wushu Championship by DAWAF concludes with enthusiasm in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 25, 2026: The 10th District Ferozepur Wushu Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Championship 2026 was organised with great enthusiasm and grandeur by the District Amateur Wushu Association Ferozepur (DAWAF) at the School of Eminence, Ferozepur. Around 72 players from 15 schools and clubs across the district participated in the championship and showcased their sporting talent.The tournament was inaugurated by Mohit Garg, Director of Shanti Vidya Mandir.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Dr. Satinder Singh, National Awardee and Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary), Ferozepur, attended as the chief guest, while Sunil Sharma, retired Deputy Director, Sports Punjab, was present as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Satinder Singh said that sports are an integral part of the all-round development of students. He stated that sports not only help in physical fitness but also develop mental strength, discipline, teamwork and self-confidence. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports along with academics to achieve success in every sphere of life. He also congratulated the winners and extended his best wishes for the upcoming state-level competitions.
Providing details about the championship, chief coach Krishan Kumar said that the players displayed excellent technical skills and a high level of sportsmanship throughout the tournament. In the team championship results, Shanti Vidya Mandir School secured first position, while K-10 Martial Arts and Fitness Club finished second and Mata Sahib Kaur School claimed third place.
He further informed that the gold medal winners would represent District Ferozepur in the upcoming State Wushu Championship 2026. The winning players and supporting coaches were also specially honoured on the occasion.
The successful organisation of the district-level championship was made possible with the special contribution of school principal Mr. Rajesh Mehta and the staff members.
Prominent personalities present during the event included chief instructor Krishan Kumar, treasurer Mrs. Parul Mehta, coaches Parul Mehta, Dimple Rani, Vishal Kamboj, Shivam, Jashandeep Singh, Sahil, Balveer and Khushi, among others.
The championship concluded with the national anthem and enthusiastic cheers from the players. The participants and guests highly appreciated the efforts of the District Amateur Wushu Association Ferozepur for successfully organising the event.
