13 school vehicles challaned for violating Safe School Transport Policy
Authorities Advise Schools and Vehicle Owners to Ensure Compliance
Ferozepur, April 4, 2025: In compliance with the Punjab and Haryana High Court's directives and under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma, the District Child Protection Unit, in collaboration with the Task Force team, conducted a thorough inspection of school vehicles in Ferozepur Cantonment under the Safe School Transport Policy. During the inspection, 13 school vehicles found violating the policy were issued challans.
The inspection team strictly warned drivers that non-compliance with the Safe School Transport Policy would not be tolerated and that legal action would be taken against violators.
District Child Protection Officer Baljinder Kaur emphasized that school principals and vehicle drivers are regularly informed about the policy guidelines. These include the mandatory installation of CCTV cameras, iron grills on windows, first aid boxes, and the presence of a female conductor in school transport. In addition, the drivers must ensure that all vehicle documents are up to date to avoid penalties, she added.
Authorities have urged schools and vehicle owners to prioritize student safety, warning that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. Parents are also advised to verify whether their children’s school transport meets the required safety standards.
Among those present during the inspection were ATO Rakesh Kumar Bansal, along with district officials Satnam Singh, Sukhpreet Singh, Kamlesh Kumar, and Shiva.
