Amritsar Police bulldoze properties of drug traffickers

Amritsar (Punjab), March 6, 2025 – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Punjab government has demolished properties linked to drug traffickers in Amritsar, reinforcing its commitment to making the state drug-free.
In a joint operation by the Amritsar Municipal Corporation and Punjab Police, two-storied houses and shops belonging to notorious drug traffickers were razed using JCB machines under the supervision of Police Commissioner S. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
This decisive action sends a strong warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade.
MLA Jeevanjot Kaur reiterated Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s firm stance, stating that drug traffickers must either abandon their trade or leave Punjab. She emphasized that the government will not tolerate the drug trade and will take strict action against those involved.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that the crackdown follows the direct instructions of CM Bhagwant Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav. He warned that no drug trafficker will be spared, as authorities intensify efforts to cleanse Punjab of narcotics.
The demolished properties belonged to two notorious traffickers:
? Gurmeet Singh – Facing three cases, with 325 grams of smack and 350 grams of heroin recovered.
? Sandeep Singh alias Sonu – Has four cases registered, including narcotics charges in Sarai Amanat Khan and Anti-Narcotics Force Mohali.
This high-impact operation underscores the Punjab government’s determination to wipe out drug networks and create a safer, healthier future for its citizens.
