Infrastructure: It will be a fully 6-lane highway, developed as a Greenfield project (constructed on a completely new route).
A Crucial Part of the Tricity Ring Road:
This corridor is a vital component of the Tricity Ring Road project. Its completion will provide significant relief from the heavy traffic congestion currently witnessed at major urban junctions in Mohali, Chandigarh, and Panchkula. The project is designed to divert long-distance traffic around the outskirts instead of allowing it to enter the inner city areas.
Easier Travel to Himachal Pradesh:
Nitin Gadkari stated that this project will reduce the traffic burden on NH-44, NH-205A, and NH-152. It will make travel faster and smoother for passengers heading towards Himachal Pradesh, particularly the Shimla region. This will not only reduce travel time but also provide a major boost to regional economic activities.
