Jalandhar (Punjab), January 31, 2026: Just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar on February 1, a sensational incident has come to light with bomb threats being issued to prominent schools in the city, triggering panic within the police administration.
According to information, at least three leading schools in Jalandhar, including Cambridge School, received threatening emails warning of bomb blasts.
Following the threats, school authorities immediately alerted the police, leading to heightened security concerns. With the Prime Minister’s visit already placing the city on high alert, the threats have further intensified police vigilance.
As soon as the information was received, police teams along with bomb disposal squads rushed to the schools and launched thorough search operations. However, due to the Guru Ravidas Maharaj Shobha Yatra, most schools in the city were already closed, which helped avert a major scare and prevented panic among students.
Police officials said efforts are underway to trace the source of the threatening emails, and security arrangements across the city have been further tightened. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to pay obeisance at Dera Sachkhand Ballan on Sunday, for which the entire area has been turned into a virtual police cantonment.
