CM Mann vows all‑out push for Tarn Taran; says AAP set for emphatic bypoll win
Tarn Taran, November 7, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday said the Aam Aadmi Party is “fully prepared” to notch a decisive victory in the Tarn Taran by‑election, citing strong public response to the government’s welfare and development measures during rallies for AAP nominee Harmeet Singh Sandhu.
Addressing a series of meetings, the Chief Minister said the state has rolled out schemes for every section and promised to “leave no stone unturned” to accelerate development in the constituency. He alleged opposition parties have “no substantive issues” and are trying to mislead voters with “baseless remarks,” while the government will stay focused on delivery.
Targeting Shiromani Akali Dal leadership, Mann accused former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal of attempting to “mislead people,” adding that the 2007–2017 period was marred by the rise of “transport, cable, sand and drug mafias.” He said past incidents such as the Bargari firing and the spread of drugs had eroded public trust in traditional parties.
Referring to Congress state chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Mann said recent comments had “exposed the party’s mindset” and reiterated that any “patrons” of the drug trade would face strict action. He claimed some leaders had even “misused official vehicles” for illicit activities and argued that voters now back AAP because a “common family” leader is prioritising public interest.
Listing government actions, the Chief Minister said 58,962 recruitments were made through a transparent process without court challenges, which has restored confidence among youth to prepare for state jobs. He added that about 90% households now receive zero electricity bills, farmers get uninterrupted supply for paddy, and “Schools of Eminence” upgrades have improved outcomes—citing top performance in the National Achievement Survey and competitive exam results from government schools.
On road safety, Mann said the specialised State Safety Force has cut accident fatalities by 48% since launch and now fields 144 modern vehicles with trained personnel, including women. He urged voters to support Harmeet Singh Sandhu to “sustain the pace of development” in Tarn Taran and across Punjab.
