Crackdown on plastic bags, stray dogs in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, February 18, 2025: In a bid to enforce a complete ban on plastic bags and tackle the growing issue of stray dogs, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bambah chaired a meeting with officials from various municipal councils and committees.
Dr. Bambah issued strict directives to ensure the complete prohibition of plastic bags across the district. She emphasized the need for awareness campaigns to educate shopkeepers and the public about the environmental and health hazards posed by plastic waste. Officials were instructed to take strict action against those violating the ban.
Addressing concerns over the increasing stray dog population, Dr. Bambah directed the Animal Husbandry Department and municipal council officials to initiate a special sterilization drive. The campaign aims to control the unchecked rise in stray dogs, which has become a public safety issue in several areas. The sterilization program will be carried out systematically to reduce the stray dog population humanely.
The meeting was attended by officials from all municipal bodies in the district, who assured full cooperation in implementing these directives. The administration aims to make Ferozepur cleaner and safer through these measures.
