‘Developed India Youth Parliament 2026’
DSCW hosts debate on poignant theme "50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy"
Ferozepur, November 17, 2025 - Dev Samaj College for Women (DSCW), Ferozepur, successfully hosted a live telecast of the "Developed India Youth Parliament-2026" on November 15, 2025. This event was organised as part of the nationwide initiative, "Lead the Path to Developed India," under the guidance of DSCW Chairperson, Dr Agnees Dhillon, and was a key highlight in the college's calendar of educational, social, and cultural activities.
The program was a collaborative effort between the college, the District Level Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry of the Government of India, and DSCW's NSS wing.
The event commenced with a welcoming song presented by the students of the college's music department. NSS Wing organisers, Rupinderjeet Kaur and Rabia, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Ankush Nijwan from the Regional Directorate of NSS, Chandigarh. They also welcomed the distinguished jury members: Dr S.N. Rudra, Dr Malkeet Singh, Dr Prabhpreet Singh, Prof. Rajni, Prof. Pooja, and other dignitaries.
A central feature of the day was a debate competition centred on the poignant theme, "50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy." The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across various colleges in the district.
The final list of the top ten student participants included Harshit (Government Brijindra College, Faridkot) and nine students from DSCW: Sukhmni, Pawan, Kusum, Mahikpreet Kaur, Anmolpreet Kaur, Sejalpreet Kaur, Ravjot Sidhu, Preet Pooja, and Khushi. These high-achieving students were honoured with certificates and mementoes by the attending dignitaries.
Principal Dr Sangeeta lauded the exemplary performance of the eight winning students from Dev Samaj College for Women. On behalf of the college management, she congratulated them and extended her best wishes for their upcoming participation in the state-level competition.
