FWICE urges Border 2 makers to rethink Diljit Dosanjh’s casting

Mumbai (Maharastra), June 25, 2025: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has raised serious objections to the casting of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in the upcoming patriotic film Border 2.
The protest comes in the wake of Dosanjh’s decision to feature Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, which has sparked controversy amid strained India-Pakistan relations.
In a strongly worded letter addressed to the producers of Border 2—Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and director Anurag Singh—FWICE expressed its dismay, stating that casting Dosanjh undermines the industry’s long-held position against collaborating with Pakistani artists.
“The Federation is deeply concerned that you have chosen to cast an actor who has openly disregarded national sentiment by working with a Pakistani co-star,” the letter said.
“This is not just a film industry matter—it’s about standing with the nation during times of sensitive cross-border tensions.”
FWICE reaffirmed its policy against working with Pakistani talent, citing the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and victims of terrorism.“The Indian film industry has always stood with the country, and such decisions threaten to dilute that solidarity,” the letter noted.
The federation has called upon the Border 2 team to reconsider Diljit Dosanjh’s role in the film and take a stand aligned with “national integrity.”
FWICE also reportedly submitted a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week, requesting strict action against the singer-actor, including revocation of his passport.
Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir opposite Dosanjh, is scheduled for release exclusively in international markets on June 27, 2025.The film will not be screened in India, a decision believed to be influenced by the rising backlash.
