Food Safety First: Punjab orders FSSAI registration for Anganwadis

Mansa (Punjab), June 7, 2025: In a significant move aimed at ensuring food safety and nutrition standards, the Punjab government has decided to register all Anganwadi centres in Mansa district under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Taking the first step in this direction, the district administration organized a one-day training session for Anganwadi staff. The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh, and led by Designated Officer and Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Singh Rai, along with District Program Officer Ratinder Pal Kaur.
Training on FSSAI Registration Process
During the session, representatives from various child development projects in the district were briefed on the procedure for registering under FSSAI. Food Safety Officer Amarinderpal Singh Chahal informed that registration for all Anganwadi centres is now mandatory, with the goal of ensuring nutritional quality and safety for children.

District Program Officer Ratinder Pal Kaur emphasized that as per Punjab government directives, not a single Anganwadi centre in the district will be left unregistered. All centres will be registered on the FSSAI portal within a defined timeline.
