Chandigarh, September 17, 2025: Former Municipal Councillor Shakti Prakash Devshali on Wednesday strongly condemned the Congress leadership, particularly Rahul Gandhi, for what he described as baseless “vote chori” (vote theft) allegations. He said the claims are not only misleading but also a direct attack on the dignity of India’s democratic institutions.
Devshali pointed out that in the 2024 parliamentary elections, Congress secured its highest vote share in the last 35 years, which, according to him, exposes the “vote chori” allegations as false.
Highlighting the credibility of the Election Commission of India, Devshali emphasized that the institution is globally recognized for transparency, impartiality, and efficiency in conducting elections. “Congress’s attempts to question this credibility reflect nothing but frustration at being repeatedly rejected by the people,” he said.
Recalling historical precedents, Devshali accused Congress of having its own “vote chori” record. He cited the 1952 rejection of over 74,000 votes to defeat Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Rampur incident, where alleged political interference helped Maulana Abul Kalam Azad secure victory despite losing initially.
“Instead of accepting repeated failures, Rahul Gandhi continues to rely on excuses and rhetoric. By disrespecting the people’s mandate, the Congress leadership insults voters, undermines democracy, and fuels instability at the behest of foreign forces,” Devshali added.
