Fortis Healthcare to invest over Rs. 900 crore in Mohali; 400+ beds, thousands of jobs: Sanjeev Arora

Chandigarh, September 19, 2025: Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced that Fortis Healthcare will invest more than Rs. 900 crore to expand its Mohali campus, adding capacity of over 400 beds to create a world-class centre of excellence under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Arora said the integrated healthcare campus of Fortis Hospital Mohali will span more than 13.4 acres and is expected to generate over 2,500 direct jobs and more than 2,200 indirect jobs, reinforcing Punjab’s position as a hub for advanced healthcare and medical tourism.
He added that the Punjab Government is focused on strengthening public–private healthcare partnerships for Sehatmand, Rangla Punjab and welcomed Fortis Healthcare’s continued investments and expansion in the state, underscoring Punjab’s emergence as a centre of medical excellence.
Sharing more details, Arora said that with these developments, the Punjab cluster will cross 1,000 beds, supported by more than Rs. 2,500 crore in cumulative investment, reflecting Punjab’s rise as one of the largest and most strategically important healthcare hubs in North India.
He noted that Fortis has already invested more than Rs. 1,500 crore in Punjab, building a strong network of hospitals; in Mohali, Fortis currently operates a 375-bed facility, including 194 ICU beds across 40 specialties, and is a regional leader in cardiac sciences, oncology, organ transplants, robotic surgery, and critical care.
Fortis Hospital Ludhiana has a 259-bed facility (since 2013) and a new 70-bed facility launched in 2023 with super-speciality clinics in breast health, diabetes, and spine care, while Fortis Escorts Hospital in Amritsar has a 173-bed facility on a 4.5-acre campus serving Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
At Jalandhar, Shrimann Superspeciality is a 300-bed hospital where Fortis has acquired an additional 2.5 acres for future expansion, further strengthening the company’s Punjab footprint.
Arora said the expansion reflects growing private-sector confidence in Punjab’s healthcare ecosystem and will deliver world-class healthcare, create thousands of jobs, and firmly place Punjab on the map of advanced healthcare and medical tourism; present at the press conference were Kamal Kishor Yadav, IAS Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Punjab; Amit Dhaka, CEO, Invest Punjab; and Manu Kapila, Head of Corporate Affairs, Fortis Healthcare.
