Hon’ble Governor confers degrees at 19th Convocation of CGC Landran

Landran (Mohali), 20 Dec 2025- The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria ji presided over as the Chief Guest at the 19th Annual Convocation of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran. The distinguished dignitary was accompanied by luminaries including Guest of Honour Mr. Viyom Jain, MD & Global Business Head, Enterprise Products BU, Nagarro, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, Parampal Singh Dhillon, Vice Chairman, CGC Landran, Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Campus Director, CGC Landran, Directors and Deans of the institution.
Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria Ji, felicitated 49 gold medalists among a total of 79 distinguished merit holders of CGC during the convocation ceremony. CGC’s 19th Convocation will witness the conferment of 1,305 degrees to students from various engineering disciplines, alongside 1,420 degrees awarded to graduates of non-engineering programs in Management, Biotechnology, Pharmacy and Hotel Management.
In his convocation address, the Hon’ble Governor congratulated the graduating students and extended his best wishes to all those who were conferred degrees at the 19th Annual Convocation of CGC Landran. He described the occasion as a celebration of the students’ perseverance and achievements, a proud and joyful milestone shared by graduates, parents, and teachers alike.
Acknowledging CGC’s 25-year milestone, the Hon’ble Governor extolled and appreciated the vital role and selfless contributions of teachers in shaping students into responsible citizens and achievers of tomorrow, who bring laurels to their institution, family and country.
He also took note of CGC Landran’s committed efforts toward fostering research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and strengthening the state’s startup ecosystem, in addition to its contribution to uplifting the surrounding communities of 15 adopted villages. He underlined the crucial role of education in character building and in selfless service to society and the nation.
Speaking about NEP 2020 and its focus on skill development, he emphasized that when aligned with character building, it has the potential to revolutionize the nation’s progress and its journey towards becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047. Reiterating the role of teachers as nation builders, the Hon’ble Governor cited illustrious personalities such as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who are remembered not only as eminent leaders but also as outstanding and selfless teachers whose legacies continue to inspire educators across India. He paid deep homage to the courageous sacrifices of the Chhote Sahibzadas, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji, remembering their resolve, bravery and unwavering faith and eulogized the values instilled in them by Mata Gujari Ji and Guru Sahib Ji. He remarked that similarly educators and educational institutions serve as cradles for nurturing education, ethics and values in students.
Encouraging students to believe in themselves, he asserted that each one of them has the ability to achieve whatever they set their mind to. He urged them to evolve into skilled professionals, creative innovators, and conscientious citizens, and inspired them to embrace self-confidence, discipline, and humility as guiding values to reach the highest pinnacles of achievement.
Calling them the architects of the future, he reminded graduates of their responsibility as builders of Viksit Bharat @2047. Appreciating the role of women in nation-building and national defence, he expressed happiness at the significant ratio of female meritorious medalists at the convocation.
The Hon’ble Governor also called upon CGC Landran to support brilliant and talented students from government schools with limited means, enabling them to pursue higher education at reputed institutions like CGC Landran and shape a better future.
In his concluding remarks, he once again congratulated the graduates and urged them to seize opportunities, face challenges with determination and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress towards becoming a developed nation with humanitarian outlook and values, strengthening the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran extended their congratulations and best wishes to all the students and lauded them for making their parents and the institution proud. Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Campus Director expressed his deep honour in welcoming the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria ji. He highlighted the institution’s vision, reflected through its wide-ranging achievements and initiatives while presenting a comprehensive report of the institute’s progress.
