Hyderabad: Terrible fire at Gulzar House claims 17 lives

Hyderabad (Telangana), May 18, 2025: A devastating fire broke out early this morning at Gulzar House, a bustling commercial and residential hub in the old city area of Hyderabad, resulting in the death of 17 people and leaving several others injured.
The fire reportedly started around 6:00 AM, with thick smoke quickly engulfing the area. Residents and eyewitnesses immediately alerted emergency services.Before firefighters arrived, locals and police began rescue efforts, pulling people out of the burning structure and rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.
Over 10 fire brigade vehicles were deployed to bring the fire under control. Firefighting operations continued for several hours, with officials battling intense heat and narrow lanes that complicated access.
Leaders Express Condolences
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. In a statement, he said, “The loss of so many lives in this accident is heart-wrenching. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
The Chief Minister has directed authorities to speed up relief operations and ensure the best possible medical care for the injured. He also assured that those affected would receive all necessary assistance from the government.
Central Government Reacts
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has been rushed to the site to oversee the situation. The Union Government has called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. An official inquiry has been launched, and fire safety compliance in the area is expected to come under intense scrutiny in the coming days.
