Amritsar, June 03, 2016- It was severe embarrassing moments for the entire management of Golden Temple and senior SGPC officials when Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal was denied Siorpa (robe of honour) by Sikh priest on duty Mr. Balbir Singh.
Badal who was earlier conferred highest religious award "Panth Rattan Fakhar-e-Quam"(Jewel and Pride of the Sikh Panth) by the sitting Jatehdar Akal Takhat Gyani Gurbachan Singh in 2011.
Today when Badal accompanied by the senior SGPC official, reached in the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Golden Temple paid obeisance, the Sikh priest on duty denied Siropa to Badal. The senior SGPC official who were present on the spot put pressure on Sikh priest Balbir Singh to honor Badal with Siropa but he denied to oblige them.
It may be recalled that the same Sikh priest had denied to honour Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal with Siropa when he visited here on 20th January 2016 as Punjab Government remained failed to curb the series of sacrilege incidents of holy Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab.
Balbir Singh was coming anguished over the sacrilege incidents of Guru Granth Sahib in the past months said that only deserving persons could be honored with Siropa and here Punjab Government still remained failed to arrest the accused accountable for sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab.
