Punjab COVID Alert: 69-year-old woman dies in Ludhiana

Chandigarh, June 7, 2025: India is witnessing a fresh spike in COVID-19 cases, with active cases climbing to 5,364 across the country and four deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Punjab has also reported a fresh fatality, raising concern among health officials.
A 69-year-old woman from the village of Jonewal in Ludhiana succumbed to the virus.She had been admitted to PGIMER, Chandigarh for treatment but could not survive. This marks the second COVID-related death in Ludhiana in recent weeks.
Family Members Also Test Positive
Three members of the deceased woman's family have also tested positive for COVID-19. All of them are currently under home quarantine.Previously, Ludhiana had recorded the death of another patient who was also receiving treatment in Chandigarh.
Health Advisory Issued
The Punjab Health Department has issued a COVID-19 advisory, urging citizens to:
- Wear masks in public places
- Use hand sanitizers
- Follow hygiene and distancing protocols to prevent further spread
Statewide Covid Situation
Currently, seven active cases have been confirmed across the state.
- Mohali has reported two fresh cases — one involving a 21-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh visiting relatives, and the other a local youth.
- Mansa district has also reported two new positive cases.
