Punjab Govt assures priority action on demands of Blind Unions

Chandigarh, December 20, 2025: Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to inclusive development under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur, on Friday held a meeting with representatives of various blind unions of Punjab and gave a patient hearing to their issues and demands.
The meeting was held at Punjab Bhawan, where Dr. Baljit Kaur assured the union representatives that all their genuine demands would be addressed on a priority basis. She directed concerned officials to take immediate steps to fill vacant posts reserved under the Divyang (Persons with Disabilities) quota at the earliest.
The Minister clarified that issues falling within the purview of the department would be resolved without delay, while matters requiring policy-level decisions would be taken up comprehensively with the government for appropriate action.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Punjab Government is continuously working to empower persons with disabilities, strengthen their self-reliance, and ensure their meaningful integration into the mainstream of society. The meeting concluded in a positive and cordial atmosphere.
