Chandigarh, December 17, 2025: The results of the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections are being declared across Punjab today, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) maintaining a clear lead as counting continues. The trends indicate a strong performance by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in rural areas, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has failed to make a significant impact.
Zila Parishad Results (Total Seats: 347):
- AAP: 29
- Shiromani Akali Dal: 4
- Congress: 8
- BJP: 0
- Independents: 2
Block Samiti Results (Total Seats: 2,838):
- AAP: 425
- Shiromani Akali Dal: 91
- Congress: 84
- BJP: 3
- Independents: 49
The latest figures reflect AAP’s continued dominance in the state, particularly in the Block Samiti elections, while the Shiromani Akali Dal has shown a notable presence in rural constituencies. The BJP, however, remains largely out of contention.
