Rajinder Gupta meets Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan; Seeks priority action on Punjab farmers, rural development

New Delhi, November 6, 2025: Soon after taking oath as Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Rajinder Gupta met Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of India Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Thursday and flagged key issues concerning farmers and village development in Punjab.
During the meeting, Gupta pressed for expedited support on farmer welfare measures and rural infrastructure. Minister Chouhan assured that matters raised would be taken up on priority by the ministry, adding that no stone would be left unturned to address Punjab’s agricultural and village development needs.
Earlier, the oath of office was administered to Gupta by Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan in the Parliament House.
68 years old Rajinder Gupta, Chairman of the Trident Group, was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha last month. A leading figure in India’s industrial landscape, Mr. Gupta is known for transforming Trident into a globally recognized conglomerate with interests in textiles, paper, energy, and chemicals.
