Yellow alert in Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh: Rain, strong winds and hail threat looms

Chandigarh, March 28, 2026: Weather conditions have taken a sudden turn across Punjab and Chandigarh, with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for the region, including Haryana, over the coming days.
According to weather experts, a fresh western disturbance is set to become active, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between March 28 and March 31. Several parts of Punjab and Haryana may also witness hailstorms during this period.
Wind speeds are expected to reach 30–40 km/h on March 28, intensifying to 40–50 km/h on March 29 and 30. Over the next five days, maximum temperatures are likely to hover between 29°C and 31°C, while minimum temperatures may remain around 18–19°C.
In Chandigarh, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32.4°C and the minimum at 18.7°C on March 26. The city is expected to see partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain and thunderstorms on March 29 and 30.
