Chandigarh, March 8, 2024: Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex MP, Chairman KCC and National President of BKU and Th Guni Prakash, President BKU (Mann) Haryana in a joint statement welcomed the comments and observations made by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
It may be mentioned that The Punjab and Haryana High Court, while addressing the farmer’s protest case, lambasted the exploitation of children in the ongoing farmers' protests, calling it a grave misconduct by the agitating leaders.
"Children were being used as shield, this is absolutely shameful!”. The division bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Lapita Banerji, had vehemently criticised the tactic, deeming it a "sad state of affairs.”
The condemnation came as photos were presented by the Haryana government counsel depicting children being placed at the forefront of tumultuous protests.
"What kind of parents are you?" the court exclaimed, underlining the irresponsibility displayed by the protesters. The court further expressed concern about the alleged creation of a "war-like situation" during the protests.
Mann said "we have always been warning that these leaders are misguiding the children of Punjab for their own greed and political interests. These leaders have no love for agriculture or its crisis but their only interest is to sink Punjab into a deep chaos and anarchy".
Th Guni Prakash said " these so called farmer leaders are either controlled remotely from the "Red" masters while few are saving their businesses in garb of helping the farmers. He strongly lamented that under the name of BKU, lot of extortion is being done and "hafta vassoli" is being done from business men, doctors and etc.
He warned people not to fall prey to these elements and not give alms to them.
He further "it is very unfortunate that the Political impotency is absolutely apparent when these elements are not controlled by state machinery and Honble Courts have to intervene".
Further elaborating he said that the political impotency was first displayed by Capt Amarinder Singh when he rather than controlling them, allowed them to go to borders of Delhi, rest is history he said.
He urged Punjab CM S Bhagwant Mann to show same courage and initiative like he had shown a year against few unlawful elements. The Kisan leader further said that few You tube news channels are also heavily contributing in promoting the nefarious and dangerous agenda which is misleading the children of Punjab. He urged these channels to "do justice to their profession" and not be driven by greed of TRP.
He reminded that one article of a vernacular had pushed Punjab into black days of terrorism; highlighting the role of media to bring out factual position to people rather than being driven by agenda.
"Agenda driven Media is more dangerous than even a nuclear bomb, he said."
Mann said that although the Hon'ble High Court has completely seen through the design of these elements, it is unlikely that they will be deterred by the High Courts observations.
During the earlier agitation at Delhi borders, the agitators had shown complete disregard to Supreme Court. Mann said that the 26th January "tandav" at red fort and on roads of New Delhi was enough to open the eyes of the nation about these farmer leaders.
He further urged the political leadership to show strength and control the anarchy spreading any further in Punjab which is already facing investment crisis, exodus of youth and drug problem.
He further said that there is no doubt that the agriculture is passing through a deep nationwide crisis and there is imperative need to find solution.
The solution lies in bringing reforms in agriculture on priority basis rather than pushing regressive, false, misleading narrative and creating fear psychosis to sabotage the reforms.
