Major road development project set to transform Punjab border areas – Fouji Angrez Singh Varwal
Ferozepur, October 10, 2024: Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet for approving a substantial road development project in Punjab’s border areas, Punjab President BJMC (BJP) Fouji Angrez Singh Varwal said, the central government has sanctioned ₹4,400 crore for the construction of 2,280 kilometers of roads in the border regions of Punjab and Rajasthan. Varwal believes this development will significantly improve the infrastructure and quality of life for people in these areas.
A month ago, on September 9, Varwal, along with BJP leaders including National President Arnab Chatterjee, National Chairman Biswa Priyo Choudhary, and National Secretary Dr. H.S. Khaira, submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Their request emphasized the need for road development in Punjab's border areas, which would enhance connectivity, aid flood management, and improve access for security forces.
Following the submission, the PMO assured swift action, resulting in this quick approval within a month. Varwal, himself a resident of the border area and a former soldier, understands the importance of infrastructure for these regions. During the Lok Sabha elections, he had promised the development of border areas, and he now celebrates the fulfillment of that commitment.
Varwal acknowledged that the road project not only connects border residents to mainstream development but also enhances security and logistical support for the armed forces. He noted that this development marks a significant shift after 75 years of independence, achieving in just five months what had not been realized before. He also expressed his gratitude towards BJP's central leadership for their support on this project, which he anticipates will be a game-changer in Punjab politics. Varwal believes that this initiative will play a crucial role in the BJP’s efforts to secure a majority in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, akin to their success in Haryana.
