Chandigarh University joins elite ranks in Asia Pacific, launches PATA's Student Chapter

Mohali, October 10, 2024: Bridging the gap between academia and industry practice, Chandigarh University (CU) has achieved yet another significant milestone by becoming the third varsity in India to have a Student Chapter of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the largest travel promotional organization in the world, at its campus.
The PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter positions the CU among the select universities in the Asia Pacific with such a collaboration with PATA, the recognized authority on travel and tourism in the region.
Besides providing Chandigarh University students with real-world experience with opportunities to participate in research projects, case studies, and industry internships, this Student Chapter will also provide them access to a network of industry leaders, peers, and potential employers.
This PATA Student Chapter is set to be the cornerstone for Chandigarh University students, from the departments of Tourism, Airlines, Hotel Management, and Culinary Arts, the University Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management, aspiring to become tourism professionals.
As PATA is a premier organization for tourism industry professionals across the Asia-Pacific region, this Student Chapter will help CU students get exclusive access to PATA’s extensive network and resources including professional development workshops unique industry insights, and networking opportunities with elite professionals in the travel and tourism sector to get valuable insights into current trends, challenges, and new opportunities in the sector.
By facilitating knowledge sharing and networking, the PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter will aim to explore strategies and practices that enable students to conduct research that benefits not only the tourism industry but also enhances their professional growth by providing global exposure with participation in international conferences, webinars, and collaborative projects.
The PATA India Student Chapter shows the commitment of Chandigarh University, which secured the top rank among private universities in India in the coveted Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2024, to build collaborations for offering global career opportunities to its students.
Ranked among India's top 20 universities in the NIRF Rankings 2024, Chandigarh University, Gharuan is the first university in the country to forge 516 partnerships with top-ranked international universities in popular study-abroad destinations to provide international exposure to its students.
Incidentally, Chandigarh University secured 1st rank in India in Hospitality Management in QS World University Rankings by Subjects-2024.
The formal inauguration of the PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter took place at the university campus at Gharuan on 21 August in the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University Prof (Dr) Manpreet Singh Manna along with renowned leading Travel Entrepreneurs Prashant Daroch from Holiday Hub, and Soundar Rajan from HighQ Tourism.
As part of the inaugural ceremony, the executive committee members performed a skit-themed “Green Guardians: A Step Towards Responsible Practices”. The event concluded with a pledge to promote sustainable tourism practices and contribute to the broader goals of the PATA.
Founded in 1951, the PATA is a not-for-profit membership association that acts as a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and tourism to, from, and within the Asia Pacific region
.The Association provides aligned advocacy, insightful research, and innovative events to its over 1000 member organizations, which include government, state, and city tourism bodies, international airlines and airports, hospitality organizations, and educational institutions, as well as thousands of young tourism professionals members across the world.
