Bharat Tex 2025 to highlight eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices in the textile industry

New Delhi, February 1, 2025: The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) organized the Bharat Tex Roadshow in London from November 27 to 29, 2024. The event was aimed at promoting India’s textile and apparel industry, while strengthening ties with UK stakeholders.
As a preview to Bharat Tex 2025, the event highlighted eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices in the textile industry. The key attendees at the event included Ms. Shubhra, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, India, Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman, AEPC, Premal Udani, AEPC Export Promotion Committee Chair, and Roger Gilmartin from Gherzi Consulting. Over 100 top brands and retailers participated in elaborate discussions on trade, investment and sustainability.
Government initiatives like the PLI Scheme and PM MITRA Parks were emphasized as game changers for India’s global textile competitiveness. The UK had imported $20.27 billion in textiles in 2023, with India contributing $1.2 billion.
Between April and October 2024, New Delhi’s ready-made garment exports to London grew by 9.4%, highlighting the fertile growth prospects in the textile industry between the two countries.
The delegation met Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswamy to discuss trade collaboration and the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).Doraiswamy expressed optimism about the growing UK interest in Indian textile opportunities.
The Bharat Tex Roadshow reaffirmed India-UK synergy in textiles, driven by innovation and sustainability, setting the stage for a successful Bharat Tex 2025, which will be held from February 14 to 17 at the Bharat Manadapam in New Delhi.
