Punjab to develop new Urban Estates, strict action against negligent officials: Minister Hardip Mundian

Mohali (Punjab), March 6, 2025: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardip Singh Mundian has directed officials to establish new urban estates across the state, including in smaller towns, to promote planned urban development and curb unauthorized colonies.
Chairing a review meeting at PUDA Bhavan, Mohali, Mundian emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to providing world-class urban infrastructure under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership.
He instructed development authorities and the Department of Town and Country Planning to accelerate land acquisition for these projects to ensure affordable housing options for residents.
The minister stressed the importance of corruption-free, timely services and warned that negligence at any level will not be tolerated. He also reviewed master plans and local planning areas to streamline urban development initiatives.
Principal Secretary Vikas Garg urged officials to bring all remaining offline services online, ensuring greater accessibility and efficiency for the public.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Special Secretary Apneet Riyat, PUDA CA and Director of Town and Country Planning Neeru Katial Gupta, and heads of various development authorities.
