Chandigarh, March 14, 2025: A Panthic convention organized by various Sikh organizations in Anandpur Sahib today strongly opposed the recent appointment of new Jathedars of Sikh Takhts by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
In a major show of Panthic unity, Sikh organizations and devotees gathered at Sri Anandpur Sahib on the call of Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, the head of Damdami Taksal. Amid resounding chants in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the congregation unanimously passed six resolutions opposing the recent dismissal of Sikh Takht Jathedars by the SGPC Executive Committee.
As per the resolutions, on March 16 at 11 am, representatives of Panthic organizations, Sant Samaj groups, and Sikh devotees from Punjab will meet SGPC Executive Committee members Baldev Singh Kalyan, Sukharpreet Singh Rode, Harjinder Kaur Chandigarh, Surjit Singh Garhi, Sher Singh Mandwala, and Surjit Singh Tugalwala. They will formally present a memorandum demanding the reversal of the decision to remove Singh Sahibans from their positions.
A copy of the six resolutions passed in today’s convention will also be handed over to them.
.It is noteworthy that protests have already taken place outside the residences of two SGPC Executive Committee members, signaling strong resentment among Sikh devotees regarding the recent developments.
