Chandigarh, March 24, 2025 – The Readers Club of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College (GGDSD College) organized an insightful event to commemorate the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar — the valiant revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s liberation.
The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of GGDSD College, who emphasized the significance of the day and reflected on the enduring legacy of these iconic martyrs.
The highlight of the event was a powerful lecture by Mr. Jupinderjit Singh, Deputy Editor of The Tribune and author of the acclaimed book Discovery of Bhagat Singh's Pistol and his Ahimsa. Mr. Singh delved into the lives of these freedom fighters, offering valuable insights into their struggle and ideologies. He also shared his remarkable journey of investigative journalism, detailing the extensive research and challenges he faced while tracing Bhagat Singh’s lost pistol—a significant artifact tied to India's independence movement.
Following the lecture, an engaging Q&A session allowed students to pose thought-provoking questions about the martyrs’ lives, their ideologies, and Mr. Singh’s investigative process. The session enriched participants’ understanding of India's rich history and the dedication required in investigative journalism. In addition to the lecture, the club organized a book exhibition that showcased a wide range of literature dedicated to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, his fellow revolutionaries, and the Indian freedom struggle.
