Jalandhar (Punjab), July 28, 2025: Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has ordered a detailed investigation into the death of three ICU patients at Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, reportedly due to an oxygen supply failure.
Following reports of an inadequate oxygen supply, the minister conducted a surprise visit to the hospital at 12:55 AM on Sunday night, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Singh clarified that a technical fault had caused a drop in pressure in the hospital's oxygen plant.
The issue was immediately addressed by switching the system to a backup compressor. The plant operator acted swiftly to restore the oxygen supply.

Emphasizing the need for accountability, Dr. Singh assured that strict action will be taken if any negligence or lapses are found on the part of hospital staff. He committed to correcting any shortcomings identified in the official inquiry report and implementing preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
