Punjab DGP Pays Tribute to Police Martyrs on Police Commemoration Day
Chandigarh, October 21, 2025: On the solemn occasion of Police Commemoration Day, Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav bowed in deep respect to the brave police martyrs — his brothers and sisters who faced danger courageously and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to protect the nation.
In a heartfelt message, DGP Yadav saluted their valor and reaffirmed the police force’s pledge to uphold the legacy of these heroes. “Their courage inspires us every day, reminding us that no challenge is too great when it comes to safeguarding the safety and peace of our people,” he said.
Addressing police personnel across India, the DGP emphasized the spirit of unity within the force. “We are more than a force; we are a family, united by duty, honor, and sacrifice,” he added.
DGP Yadav also reiterated the Punjab Police’s commitment to caring for the families of martyrs, ensuring their welfare and well-being remains a priority.
Police Commemoration Day is observed annually on October 21 in memory of ten valiant Indian police personnel who laid down their lives in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh in 1959. The day honors the sacrifices made by police officers nationwide in the line of duty.
Across India, tributes and ceremonies are held to remember the courage and dedication of police personnel who continue to serve as the nation’s first line of defense against threats to security and peace.
