MLA Bhullar inaugurates U-14 69th Girls’ State-Level Cricket Tournament, commits funds for historical tour
Honours Gold Medal winner in 21.5 km marathon held in Canada
Ferozepur, November 6, 2025: The 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Games (Under-14 Girls) Cricket Tournament commenced today at M.L.M. Senior Secondary School under the supervision of District Education Officer (Secondary) Munila Arora and Deputy DEO (Secondary) Dr Satinder Singh, National Awardee. District Education Officer (Elementary) Sunita Rani was present as a special guest.
Ferozepur City MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. Congratulating the players, he extended best wishes for the competition and also lauded the recent victory of the Indian women’s cricket team in the World Cup. Welcoming the participating players, coaches, teachers, and parents from various districts, MLA Bhullar announced that all participating players would be taken to visit historical sites, including the Saragarhi Shaheedi Memorial and Gurdwara Jamni Sahib, and that the entire expense would be borne personally by him.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the tournament was formally declared open, and players took an oath to play with honesty and true sportsmanship. During the ceremony, MLA Bhullar specially honoured Sukhdav Singh Brar for winning a gold medal in the 21.5 km Queen City State-Level Marathon held in Canada.
Students also presented the traditional folk dance Bhangra, which received appreciation from the audience, and the performers were honored on the occasion.
Providing match details, DM Sports Akash Kumar informed that Mansa won the opening match between Barnala and Mansa. In the second match, Sangrur defeated Fazilka, with player Pari Sharma scoring a remarkable 100 runs off just 26 balls, contributing to a total of 174 runs. At the D.C. Model Ground, Malerkotla defeated Bathinda, while in the match at the Cantonment Board Church Ground, Amritsar triumphed over Faridkot. Other matches are currently underway.
State Awardee Teacher Ravee Inder Singh efficiently handled event coordination duties.
On this occasion, Raj Bahadur, Himanshu Thakkar, Deepu Chopra, Gurinder Singh, Jasbir Kaur, Dalbir Singh Neetu, Baljinderpal Singh, Germanjit Singh, Navinder Kumar, Principal Harful Singh, Principal Sanjeev Tandon, Stage Secretary Ravinder Singh State Awardee, Sarabjit Singh Bhawra, Ishwar Sharma, Sukhchain Singh Steno, Jugrup Singh, Sunil DP, Avtar Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Sudhir Kumar Dhawan, Mandeep Kaur, Jasbir Kaur Gursahib Singh, Talwinder Singh, Shamsher Singh, Sunil Kumar etc. were present.
