No Outside Force Has Jurisdiction to Enforce Law and Order in Punjab: DIG Nanak Singh
— Punjab Police Refutes Claims of Haryana Police Barricading at Mohali
Babushahi Bureau
SAS Nagar (Punjab), November 10, 2025:
Punjab Police on Monday categorically denied allegations that barricades had been erected by Haryana Police at Mohali to prevent protesters from entering Chandigarh.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ropar Range Nanak Singh, who personally inspected the area along with senior officials, asserted that no barricading or checking was conducted by Haryana Police at the reported location. He cautioned those spreading such false information to desist from creating unnecessary panic among the public.
Responding to claims made by BKU leaders, DIG Nanak Singh emphasized that law and order within Punjab is solely the responsibility of Punjab Police, and no outside force is permitted to operate or enforce duties within the state’s jurisdiction without due authorization. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against any agency or individual attempting to interfere in the state’s internal affairs.
The DIG further clarified that Punjab Police had not restricted anyone from entering Chandigarh, and that traffic movement from all connecting routes on the Punjab side remained smooth and unrestricted.
