Moga (Punjab), March 14, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah drew attention during a political rally in Moga, Punjab, after asking media personnel to sit down before he began his speech, saying he would not speak until they complied.
According to reports from the rally held on March 14, journalists and cameramen were standing near the stage to record Shah’s address. However, their presence reportedly obstructed the view of people seated behind them, making it difficult for some attendees to see the stage.
Noticing the situation, Shah asked the media personnel to sit down so that the audience could see him clearly. He reportedly told them from the stage, “I am very stubborn. Until you sit down, I will not speak.”
The remark quickly drew attention, with some observers criticising the tone of the statement and suggesting that the Union Home Minister could have addressed the issue more calmly. Critics argued that public figures should maintain a more restrained approach while interacting with journalists.
Supporters, however, said the instruction was aimed at ensuring that people seated behind the media could properly view the stage during the rally.
The incident occurred during Shah’s address at a Bharatiya Janata Party rally in Moga, which was part of the party’s outreach efforts in Punjab ahead of the Punjab Assembly Elections 2027.
