Ferozepur, March 24, 2026: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned solar energy projects worth ₹4.88 crore for Ferozepur district under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The projects will be implemented by the Punjab Energy Development Agency, further strengthening the district’s push towards renewable energy under the Aspirational District Programme.
The sanctioned initiative involves the installation of solar power plants with a total capacity of 1.16 MW across 113 government buildings in the district. The total financial outlay of the project stands at ₹510.59 lakh, out of which ₹488.49 lakh will be provided as RIDF loan assistance.
District Development Manager Rohit Kashyap stated that the project will promote clean and decentralised energy generation, reduce dependence on conventional power sources, and help lower carbon emissions and electricity costs in government establishments. He added that the initiative aligns with the district’s vision of sustainable and climate-resilient development.
The project is also expected to generate long-term financial savings, reduce peak load pressure on the power grid, and enhance local energy security. By integrating renewable energy into public infrastructure, the initiative marks a significant step towards a greener, more efficient, and sustainable public service delivery system in Ferozepur.
