10 trains cancelled, diverted or short-terminated due to farmers’ agitation in Punjab
Ferozepur, March 24, 2026: Owing to the ongoing farmers’ agitation between Batala Junction and Jaintipura, Indian Railways has announced cancellation, diversion, and short-termination of 10 trains on March 24, 2026 (JCO).
According to Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, five passenger trains—74671 (Amritsar–Pathankot), 74691 (Amritsar–Dera Baba Nanak), 74674 (Pathankot–Verka Junction), 74673 (Verka Junction–Pathankot), and 14634 (Pathankot–Amritsar)—have been cancelled for the day.
Additionally, train no. 74683 (Khem Karan–Bhagtanwala) will short-terminate at Tarn Taran, while train no. 74984 (Bhagtanwala–Khem Karan) will short-originate from Tarn Taran.
Meanwhile, three long-distance trains have been diverted. Train no. 14804 (Jammu Tawi–Bhagat Ki Kothi) will run via Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar City, and Firozpur Cantt instead of the Amritsar route. Train no. 22429 (Delhi–Pathankot) has been diverted via Jalandhar City and Mukerian, bypassing Amritsar and Gurdaspur. Similarly, train no. 18310 (Jammu Tawi–Sambalpur) will operate via Pathankot Cantt and Jalandhar Cantt on an alternate route.
Passengers are advised to check the latest train status on the National Train Enquiry System or by calling the helpline at 139 before their journey.
