Chandigarh, March 29, 2026: The Punjab BJP on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the state government, alleging that the Chief Minister’s health insurance scheme has failed to deliver benefits on the ground.
Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma claimed that the much-publicised “health revolution” under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stands exposed, citing a recent incident where a family allegedly received no financial support despite holding a valid health insurance card.
“The card turned out to be nothing more than a piece of paper, offering no relief during a medical emergency,” Sharma said, adding that heavy spending on advertisements has not translated into real benefits for citizens.
He contrasted the scheme with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana, stating that it has ensured accessible healthcare for crores of people across the country.
Accusing the state government of prioritising image over governance, Sharma said the administration must answer why such schemes are failing and take immediate corrective steps to ensure effective healthcare delivery.
