Major crackdown in Ferozepur: 4 cases solved, 8 held with heroin, weapons and vehicles
Ferozepur, April 27, 2026: The Ferozepur police has achieved major success under the ongoing drives “War Against Drugs” and “Action Against Gangsters” said Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, while addressing a press meet.
Acting on directions of the Punjab Government and the Director General of Police, Punjab, special teams under the supervision of gazetted officers have been conducting intensified operations against drug traffickers and anti-social elements.
In the first case at Police Station Makhu), two accused—Jasnoor Singh alias Jassa (20) and Vishal alias Shalu (22), residents of Mansur Deva—were arrested from Basti Visava Link Road. The police recovered 3 kg 633 grams of heroin, one motorcycle, and two mobile phones. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the contraband from an unknown person in the Jhabbal area of Tarn Taran.
In another operation under Police Station Sadar Zira, CIA Staff Zira arrested Manpreet Singh alias Mannu alias Bagicha Singh (28) and Luvpreet Singh alias Luv (28). The police recovered 100 grams of heroin, two .30 bore pistols with magazines, four live cartridges, and a Scorpio vehicle. A .32 bore pistol was later recovered based on disclosure. Manpreet Singh is also wanted in multiple cases, including attempted murder on police personnel and drug smuggling involving drone recovery. He is reportedly linked with a Pakistan-based smuggler.
In the third case also under Police Station City Zira, Gurbakshish Singh alias Nikka (27) was arrested from the main bazaar of Zira, and a country-made pistol with one live cartridge was recovered. Police remand has been obtained for further investigation into the weapon’s source.
In the fourth case under Police Station Sadar Ferozepur, three accused including Rahul (20) and Karan (20) were arrested in connection with a firing incident at the residence of Bagicha Singh on April 10, in which a minor girl was injured. The police recovered one .30 bore pistol with magazine, two live cartridges, and two mobile phones. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that the attack was carried out on the instructions of Mohit Gill, who allegedly paid ₹25,000 through Google Pay. His arrest is still pending.
SSP Sidhu further disclosed that Gurbakshish Singh alias Nikka is facing six cases under NDPS and Arms Act, while Manpreet Singh alias Mannu is involved in eight cases across multiple districts including Makhu, Mansa, Ferozepur, SAS Nagar, and Arif Ke. Luvpreet Singh is also facing five cases under NDPS, Excise, and Arms Acts in Tarn Taran, Faridkot, and Ferozepur.
The SSP reiterated that the district police will continue its strict action against drug networks and criminal elements to ensure law and order in the region.
