Illegal Vape trade busted in Ferozepur; 41 E-Cigarettes seized in two Cases
Ferozepur, April 27, 2026: In a crackdown on the illegal sale of e-cigarettes, the Ferozepur City Police have registered two separate cases and seized a total of 41 disposable vape devices, arresting the accused involved in the illicit trade.
Police said the action was taken against the illegal vape trade, which involves the sale and distribution of banned e-cigarettes and related products. In India, the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA), 2019 strictly prohibits the manufacture, sale, import, export, transport, and advertisement of such devices due to concerns over health risks, nicotine addiction, and increasing use among youth.
In the first case, the police arrested Akash Chawla, a resident of Ferozepur City. Acting on specific inputs, a raid was conducted at his premises, leading to the recovery of 12 disposable vape (e-cigarette) devices. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was engaged in selling banned vaping products for profit.
In the second case, another accused, also identified as Akash Chawla, was apprehended from the same area. The police recovered 29 disposable vape devices from his possession. He was allegedly involved in the supply and distribution of these prohibited items within the city.
Police officials reiterated that the sale and use of e-cigarettes are illegal under Indian law and warned of strict action against violators. Both cases have been registered at the City Ferozepur police station, and further investigations are underway to trace the broader supply network.
The police officials emphasized their commitment to curbing illegal activities and safeguarding public health by taking firm action against those involved in the banned vape trade.
